U.S. Rep. Brian Higgins (NY-26th District) has announced the Tonawanda City School District is the recipient of a five-year federal grant to fund substance abuse prevention efforts.

A TCSD community task force first met on March 21 to brainstorm ideas on using potential grant money, which totals $125,000 yearly for five years. Now that grant money has been awarded, the task force will meet next week to discuss further plans.
Tonawanda Middle School Principal Michael Brown will present to the TCSD Board of Education at its Oct. 11 meeting about the grant and potential plans.
