More than any lesson on syntax or grammar, Tonawanda High School English teacher David Mercer said he wants to help his students become better learners. Listening to his students and using their setbacks as feedback, Mercer aims to get his students to put their full effort into their studies.
Mercer's career in Tonawanda began in a special education self-contained room, and he has now worked full-time as a teacher in the district for 25 years, working primarily with juniors and seniors. High School Principal Lyndsey Todaro says Mercer is known for engaging his students in great literature and high-level reading.
