Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Since the beginning of the school year, we have been closely monitoring the use of dab pens and vaping devices among our students and have collected a large amount. This issue has become increasingly prevalent in many schools, and we believe it is crucial to inform you and enlist your support in addressing this matter. I want to remind you that the use of vaping devices and dab pens is strictly prohibited on school grounds. Students found in possession of or using these devices will face disciplinary action in accordance with our code of conduct. We are also working closely with the Tonawanda Police Department who may issue citations to students and summons to youth court, family court or city court if found in possession of these devices.
This week, Officer Kraft, School Resource Officer, and Frank Michalski, Addiction Mindset Coach along with our high school administrators visited classrooms of all students in Grades 9-12. We discussed the effects of vaping/dabbing, reviewed consequences and presented facts on the dangers of vapes and dab pens. We urge you to have an open and honest conversation with your child about the harmful effects of vaping and using dab pens. Be aware of the various shapes and sizes these devices can take, as they are often designed to be discreet. Look out for signs of vaping, such as unusual sweet scents, increased thirst, or unexplained purchases. Our goal is to partner with you to support our students in making positive decisions for their health and future.
We appreciate your cooperation and support in addressing this critical issue. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the high school main office at (716) 694-7670. Thank you for your continued support and commitment to your child’s education and well being.
Sincerely,
Lyndsey Todaro, Principal
Renee Smith, Assistant Principal
