Since the 2003-2004 school year, Lori Hershey-Smider has dedicated her expertise as a special education teacher to the students at Tonawanda City School District.
Hershey-Smider works with the fourth and fifth graders. She pushes into the general education setting to support students with science and social studies instruction, then students come to her for math and ELA instruction.
She says she is so proud of her students who work hard every day, and because of this, show tremendous growth.
Tonawanda Elementary School Principal Rob Ross says Hershey-Smider helps her students grow and build independence. She also takes the time to get to know not only the students but the families as well, to help support them in a variety of ways.
Join us in thanking and congratulating her on 20 years of service to the students of this district.
