Six-member bowling team, each holding 2023 CHAMPION signs

We are proud to announce that the Section VI All-Star Girls Varsity Bowling All-Star team are New York State Champions. Team anchor Brenna Forsha, a senior, also took 2nd Place individually, with a high score of 266 during the competition, which took place on March 11 in Syracuse.

“It was really great to get that win,” Brenna said, “especially with how close 1st and 2nd were. We only won by one pin. It was crazy! We were all crying, jumping and hugging each other.”

“It was insane and surreal,” said Coach Rebecca Hennessy. “We were ahead by a lot, but then the other teams were closing in on us. It came down to Long Island. Their anchor bowler had to get two strikes and she bowled strike/nine. When the director said we won by one pin, we just erupted!”

Brenna has led the team to many successes this season. She kicked off the season with a 699 total series in the Maryvale Preseason Tournament, where the team took 1st Place overall. She has averaged 190 pins per game in league, with a high game of 246 and a high series of 699. At the roll-off’s competition, where girls compete individually, she averaged 205 pins per game in a three-game series. The team wrapped up their season on February 15 at Sectionals, where Brenna finished with a 1,157 pin count in a six-game series and an average of 193 pins per game.

“I’ve been on the Varsity team since 7th grade, so it’s been what I’ve been working for,” Brenna said. “I’ve been looking at colleges for bowling. Some coaches have already reached out to me. And my parents have been good supporting me. They came with me to Syracuse and were pretty happy when we won.”

“Not only is she a phenomenal bowler, but she’s an amazing role model for the rest of the girls,” Coach Hennessy said. “Multiple colleges, including D’Youville, ECC and Hilbert, have reached out to Brenna to bowl for them when she graduates. I’d love to see her stay local, but she could go bigger if she wants. I was handed a really great group of girls this year.”

Congratulations to the entire team! They are a perfect example of what it means to be part of the Tonawanda Warrior Nation!
