The Tonawanda Board of Education is committed to providing a safe and orderly school environment where students may receive and district personnel may deliver quality educational services without disruption or interference. Responsible behavior by students, teachers, other district personnel, parents and other visitors is essential to achieving these goals.
The District's expectations for conduct on school property and at school functions are based on the principles of civility, mutual respect, citizenship, character, tolerance, honesty and integrity. This Code also includes language regarding policy and practice in accordance with the Dignity for All Students Act. This ensures that no student is subject to bullying, cyber bullying, harassment, and/or discrimination based on a person's actual or perceived race, color, weight, national origin, ethnic group, religion, religious practice, disability, sexual orientation, transgender and gender status, or sex by school employees, visitors, or students whether on school property, on a school bus, or at a school function. Additionally, these Code requirements apply to off-campus behavior that creates or would foreseeably create a risk of substantial disruption within the school environment, where it is foreseeable that the conduct, threat, or intimidation or abuse might reach school property.
