Dear Parents, Guardians and Community,

As we continue our commitment to the well-being of our students, we are excited to share some important news regarding initiatives aimed at supporting their social-emotional and mental health growth.

The Tonawanda City School District received the NYS Mitigating Trauma Grant in the fall of 2023, a significant opportunity for us to enhance our support systems and resources for students who may be facing challenges related to trauma.  This grant enables us to implement targeted programs and interventions that promote healing, resilience, and a sense of safety for all our students.

One of the key components of this initiative is our partnership with Mindful Schools, an organization dedicated to empowering educators and students with mindfulness practices.  Mindfulness has shown remarkable effectiveness in helping individuals manage stress, regulate emotions, and cultivate greater awareness and compassion towards themselves and others.

We believe that by equipping our students and families with mindfulness tools and techniques, we can empower them to navigate life's challenges with greater resilience and emotional intelligence.  This event is an excellent opportunity to gain practical insights and tools that can be seamlessly integrated into your daily routine.  We invite parents, students, and community members to join us for a web-based workshop that will explore the benefits of mindfulness.
