Fletcher Elementary School students kept the blues alive during their Blues Assembly on April 4, sponsored by the Western New York Blues Society. Maria Kellner’s music students prepared for the assembly by studying the characteristics of the blues style in their general music classes.
Blues musician Tas Cru, a distinguished educator and performer, incorporated Fletchers’ music curriculum into his engaging assembly. The students sang blues songs, played the 12 bar blues progression on boom whackers, performed echo and response on the drums and improvised on harmonicas. Everyone in the audience had a great time!
