District offering optional Chromebook insurance

Dear Parents:

We are pleased to inform you that the District has re-opened the Portal for purchase of affordable insurance that will cover your child’s Chromebook for the 2018-2019 school year. Worth Ave. Group can provide replacement cost coverage and protect the Chromebook against accidental damage (cracked screens/liquid spills), vandalism, theft, fire, flood, natural disasters and power surges due to lightning strikes.

Buying insurance is an annual option and parents may choose between two different coverages. Please note that the difference in coverage is adding or removing the “Theft and Vandalism” option to your policy coverage. If you choose not to purchase coverage for your student’s device, please be advised you are liable for any and all damages done to the Chromebook while in your child’s possession.

All claims will be handled by our school district once the insurance has been purchased directly from the Worth Ave. Group. The policy term is Aug. 30, 2018 to June 28, 2019 and both options have a $0 deductible.

Your two options are as follows:

Full coverage ($29):

  • Accidental damage (drops and spills)
  • Cracked screen
  • Liquid submersion
  • Fire, flood and natural disaster
  • Power surge by lightning
  • Theft and vandalism

Accidental coverage ($19):

  • Accidental damage (drops and spills)
  • Cracked screen
  • Liquid submersion
  • Fire, flood and natural disaster
  • Power surge by lightning

Please note that neither option covers manufacture defect and mechanical failure, standard wear and tear, cosmetic damage and unexplained loss.

The deadline to purchase coverage will be Sept. 28, 2018.

To buy one of these insurance options, please visit the Purchase page. You will need your child’s Student ID number, which can be found on a report card, in the Parent Portal or by stopping into the office.

For any questions, please contact Jessi Donner, District Technology Coordinator, at (716) 694-7685, ext. 1006.
