Students Creatively Solve Fairy Tale Challenges

Helping Cinderella's step sister
Jessica Warthling's third-grade enrichment students at Riverview spent time immersed in some fairy tale STEM challenges that combined literature, STEM and some creative problem solving.
The students were presented with science, technology, engineering and mathematical problems that related to fairy tales.
They worked in cooperative teams using a set of materials to solve the problems.
Mya Ohar (purple shirt) and Bella Fisher (tye dye) work together to get a sock on Cinderella's step sister's foot (pool noodle) without touching the foot at all since it is so sore from trying on shoes.
The challenge was that they were only allowed to use paper clips, rubber bands, socks and a pool noodle.
