High School Concert Chorale to perform alongside professionals at Buff State

Students in the Tonawanda High School Concert Chorale have been invited to sing with distinguished Broadway and Western New York actors and actresses as part of a performance art theater production at SUNY Buffalo State.

The chorale students will be singing alongside Starpoint High School in the choir for "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" on Oct. 20, 2018 at 2 p.m. Tonawanda is one of a handful of local high schools invited to participate in this large-scale musical theater production.

"This represents a huge opportunity for our chorale students who are passionate about music, and it's a chance for them to rub elbows with some big names in theater," noted Amanda Urbaniak, Tonawanda High School vocal music teacher. "This is really the first time something such as this has happened in our area. It's great experience for our students."

Urbaniak pointed out a Williamsville teacher extended the invitation for Tonawanda to participate toward the end of last school year.

"The students are working hard to learn the music ahead of their dress rehearsal on Oct. 18," she added.

"The Hunchback of Notre Dame" is being put on by the Starring Buffalo performing arts organization. Tickets for the performance may be purchased by calling the Rockwell Hall Box Office at 878-3005 or visiting the Box Office website.
