Sixth-grade students in Tonawanda's STEMrichment (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) program had some fun flying drones through an obstacle course recently.
Students who completed the obstacle course earned their drone pilot "license." Before flying the drones, all students participated and completed a learning exercise using QR codes and Chromebooks to learn about drones. Students went to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) website, viewed two videos and read two current event articles to learn background information regarding FAA requirements, safety, exciting new uses for drones and current events.
