Two Collection Days Remaining for Tonawanda City School's STEM Supply Donations

Donations accepted Elementary students in Tonawanda City Schools want the community to do some spring cleaning and donate unused items to the schools. The items will be used in a variety of classroom lessons focused on science, technology, engineering, art and math. The classroom teachers will be able to work the donated items into their daily lessons and future student projects. Collections have already taken place on Monday, April 25 at Fletcher Elementary, and Tuesday, April 26 at Riverview Elementary.
 
Remaining collections will be held between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on:
 
•    Wednesday, April 27 at the Middle/High School, Door #3, 600 Fletcher St., Tonawanda
•    Thursday, April 28 at Mullen Elementary, 130 Syracuse St., Tonawanda
•    Friday, April 29 at the Board of Education Building, 100 Hinds St., Tonawanda
 
A collection area will be designated at each building’s foyer and items can be dropped off during school hours of 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Parents can send items in with their children to be placed in the boxes in the foyers at each building.
 
Items being collected, even if they are broken or missing pieces, include: old board games, Light Bright, any building toys such as Lincoln Logs or Tinker Toys, Matchbox cars and tracks,  marbles, magnets, remote control items and any spare controllers, spools, thread, fabric, arts and craft supplies, animal pelts, antlers, shells, feathers, clean bones (wildlife), CDs, film canisters, baby food jars/lids, kitchen timers, stop watches, balloons, small pliers, screw drivers,  hammers, chisels, measuring tapes, ice cube trays, funnels, scales, measuring spoons and cups, basters, flour sifters, strainers, whisks, rolling pins, cookie cutters, tweezers, eye droppers, clean and unused sponges, string, rope, chains, flashlights, handheld magnifying lenses, PVC pipes (straight, elbows).
 
The collection coincides with Environmental Education week and Earth Day, April 22.
