358 Pounds of Food Donated During Strike Out Hunger Bowling
Twenty teams spent part of their day off on Jan. 18 at Tonawanda Bowling Center for the Fifth Annual Student/Faculty Bowling Competition to benefit the St. Francis Food Bank. This year participants donated 358 pounds of food, bringing the charity event’s five-year total to 2,287 pounds.
For the second consecutive year, first place in the bowling competition, with a grand total of 1,644 pins, went to the "Winions" team led by Superintendent Dr. Jim Newton. Taking second place, only seven pins behind was teacher Henry Hughes and his "Kingpins" team of students Tyler Stapf, Josh Large and Pearl Bacon with a total of 1,637 pins. Teacher Eric Zastrow's "Pinside Out" team of students McKaelyn Gross, Dayna Daugherty, and Eric Baumann were selected as best dressed for the second consecutive year.
First, second, and best dressed received a trophy that can be displayed in their classroom or office until next year.
