Tonawanda Earth Science Teacher Featured on Local TV Show on Sept. 7

 
Michael Hawley, a Tonawanda High School earth science teacher, will be a featured guest on a local talk show that highlights exceptional teachers from across the state. Hawley is one of 15 area teachers who will be featured in the first season of “Inside the Classroom.” A full episode about him will air around Christmas. But viewers can get a sneak peek of his segment during the show’s premiere at 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 7 on Lockport Community Television channel 20. (Time Warner).
 
He was selected for the show because he received the outstanding teacher award for Phi Delta Kappa on 2012.
 
“Inside the Classroom” is filmed locally at the Lockport Community Television station. In the premiere episode, viewers see Hawley teaching an astronomy lesson. Hawley talks with the show’s host, Ashli Dreher, about his day, teacher assessments and about social emotional learning.
 
The show will be broadcast on 22 stations across the state with a reach of 12 million households.
